August 12, 2004 - It rained throughout the night so I wasn’t able to watch the big meteor shower that was going on. It cleared up some so I got to see a few shooting stars. It wasn’t raining when I woke up so I got hiking as soon as I could. I knew it was going to be an easy day but didn’t want to be hiking in the rain. The hike today was very boring, flat with no views but didn’t matter because it was cloudy all day. I did pass by a lot of ponds today which is very common in Maine. I ended the day at Piazza Rock shelter which is right before Saddleback, a big climb. I hiked 19.5 miles today, finishing at 4:00pm. Got a big day planned tomorrow going over several 4000 footers.
