July 14, 2004 - Well, I started my 9th state today as I left NJ and made my way into NY. As soon as I left NJ the skies started to clear up and I got a lot of good views. It was a very boring morning in NJ so not much to talk about. It was such a big change of hiking terrain when I left NJ. I was walking along the ridgeline on these huge long slabs of rocks, very smooth so I was glad it was not raining or I would be slipping and sliding all over the place. Only 23.8 miles on the day. As soon as I got to the shelter it started to rain, just missed hiking on those slippery rocks.
