June 7, 2004 - Nice long 31.8 miles for the day. It was easy because there were not many hills to climb so it was kind of a boring day. I met a lot of nice people throughout the day. Still haven’t caught up to Will and Joe is still behind. At dinner time I met a nice man who has hiked the AT before. We talked a lot about hiking and why 30 miles a day is too much and worthless. I disagreed but kept talking with him. By the time dinner was over the rain had stopped. I only planned to take a 15 min break since the next shelter is only 7 miles away but the rain came and went. I ended up staying 2 hours. I could have ordered a pizza at the visitor’s center near by but didn’t think I would be there long. It’s getting too dark to write so I’ll stop. Re-supply is only 4.5 miles away.
