Day 81: Hexacuba Shelter to Glencliff Hostel (14.7 miles)

August 1, 2004 - Spent another night sick as a dog. I need to stop doing that because it’s no fun. I would go to the bathroom every 2 hours so not much sleep. I didn’t leave the shelter until 10:30 so there was no way I was going to make it to the Whites, so I decided to go the 14 miles to the hostel in Glencliff, NH. I left the shelter feeling horrible. My stomach was hurting so I was moving slowly. Had a hard 1.4 miles up Cube Mt which took forever. After I made it up Cube the rest of the day’s hike was pretty easy. About 7 miles away I crossed the road and a car drove by. It was the caretaker of the Glencliff Hostel and he gave me a hamburger which was very good. That got me to the hostel. Having a great time at the hostel, watching movies and eating. Got to wash my clothes for the first time since Ben’s house. Also got to take a well-needed shower. I was really starting to smell, even more than usual. 14.7 miles for the day.
