Day 75 - lots of up and downs on the ridge (22.0 miles)

Updated: Aug 13, 2022

July 23, 2021

Miles: 22.0 miles

Steps: 53,887

Was only able to sleep in until about 6:45am. Surprised I didn’t wake up later as I went to bed kind of late watching tv and figuring out my route around the fires.

Hung around Lima until 11:30am. The cafe across from the motel was open this morning so went over for a late breakfast as I had already stopped at the gas station for donuts before going over to the post office to pick up my resupply box.

Was back to hiking around noon, just as it was getting hot. Luckily I had a nice flat road walk for 7 miles so I was able to use my umbrella to help with the sun.

I got to the trailhead and noticed on my app I could continue on the road a little longer and avoid some of the up and downs. Plus I would have access to water for the next 4 miles so it seemed like the smart thing to do. I did have a steep climb out of the valley at the end of the road.

Once back on trail I stayed on the ridge for the next 7 miles. I went up and down so many times that I lost track. I would have had amazing views if it weren’t so hazy.

The last 3 miles were all downhill to the campsite. I did have a hard time finding a good tree to hang my food from.

My campsite is covered in cow poop so not the best smelling area but the only flat area for awhile.
