Day 75: Kid Gore Shelter to Bromley Shelter (27.7 miles)
Updated: May 10, 2019
July 26, 2004 - Woke up feeling like a new person. My stomach didn’t hurt at all. All I needed was a little rest. Got an early start since I got so much sleep yesterday. I had planned on taking today easy and only go 22 miles but I felt so great I wanted to go as far as I could to make up for yesterday. Had a nice downhill to start off with then a 1600 ft climb to the top of Stratton Mt. Somehow I did the 3.8 mile climb in under 70 minutes. Ate my lunch from the top of the Mt then went up the fire tower for one of the best views I’ve seen on the AT. Then made my way to Stratton Pond and the shelter I had planned on staying at. I made it to that shelter before 4 pm so I decided to go to Bromley shelter, another five miles. I still had lots of daylight left since it was only 5:30 pm when I got there. But 27.7 miles is enough and the next campsite is not for another 9 miles. It started to rain as I got to the shelter so all the more reason to stay here.
