July 11, 2016 - As bad as my ankle was hurting last night it felt really good today, only a little pain after my last water stop for the day.
The theme for today was uphill. It felt like the whole day I was going up and never really down. I basically stayed in the woods most of the day so kind of boring but every once in awhile I would get a break from the trees with an opening and get a nice view of Mt Shasta.
The last few miles of the day were nice, nice easy trail walking along the ridge with views of where I’ve come from and then more views of Shasta.
I tried to go at a slower pace today so I didn’t get as far as I would have liked but I think it’s the smart thing to do to help heal up my ankle.
I was hiking off and on with 2 guys today that were at the same camp as me last night but I think they ended up a few miles farther. I could have tried to catch them but the next campsite on my map is pretty far away so didn’t want to gamble. This spot would be great but a few too many mosquitos.
