Day 50: Harper Ferry, WA-Tara’s House (0.0 miles)
Updated: May 10, 2019
July 1, 2004 - Yesterday I finished up the Rollercoaster with no problem. Then stopped at the Blackburn hostel for lunch then ran straight to Harper’s Ferry. At HF I went to the ATC headquarters, had my picture taken for their records and given a number. I’m #499 northbound to come through. About 1500 people started northbound this year and only 50% make it to HF. Then went to the library to check email. Then I got a snack at 7/11 and went back to the ATC to wait for Bilbo. Bilbo has a friend who lives outside of HF where we can stay. But I hadn’t seen him in a few days. It all worked out and I made it to the friend’s house where we got a shower, washed clothes and ate good food. So we decided to take a zero day the next day. No 4-state challenge. Well, I took my 3rd zero day today and it was great. I still can’t seem to sleep in, woke up at 6 am. First thing Bilbo, Tara and I did was go back to ATC so Bilbo could get his picture taken. Then we went to the store to resupply and rented a movie, Lost in Translation. The movie was okay, not as great as everyone says. Just a lazy afternoon of washing clothes and talking. Tara has such a cool house and her mom makes great food. After dinner we watched this massive storm come in. I’m glad I wasn’t in it. Then bedtime.
