May 31, 2016 - Got an early start since I would be hitting the desert just a few miles down trail. The plan was to get to Hikertown as soon as possible because it heats up so quickly and there is no shade. Plus it gets windy making umbrella useless because it would break.
Got to Hikertown at 8:45am. Picked up my mail drop which had just a few supplies. I then took the shuttle to the store 4 miles down the road and got enough supplies to get me to Tehachapi in 2 full desert hiking days. The shuttle van was interesting as the sliding door wouldn’t stay shut as a rope is used to keep it closed. At the store I bought my supplies and some breakfast and went next door to the AC building with the other hikers and watched True Lies. After hanging around for 2 hours our shuttle driver came back to pick us up. The rest of the day was just relaxing in shed where shortly I’ll go to sleep and wake up at 2am and get in about 23 miles before it gets too warm. Most of the walking will be along the LA aqueduct.
