Day 13: Double Spring Gap Shelter to Pecks Corner Shelter (21.2 miles)

Updated: May 10, 2019

May 25, 2004 - 4:00am is when I woke up to try to make it to Clingman’s Dome for sunrise. It was a 3 mile hike uphill in the pitch black with only my flashlight to guide (went with 3 other guys). It was all foggy when we got there so it was a disappointment, got one okay picture. It was a long day of hiking. When we got to Newfound Gap, which is a big tourist attraction, there must have been 200 people around. Had lots of people want to know what I was doing. I was glad to leave that area. Highlight of the day was lunch at Charlie’s Bunion, some of the best views I’ve seen. I’m camped now for the night, 21.2 miles for the day.
